Mission

Our Vision: healthy, active, meaningful lives.
Our Mission: To provide holistic quality care and other services that are inclusive and sustainable for our community.
Our Purpose: Dignity and hope to Jewish adults and older persons with intellectual disabilities and neurodivergent individuals, so that they can reach their full potential.

Program of Services

Glendale is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to Jewish adults and seniors with profound intellectual disabilities. Our holistic approach ensures personalized care across a wide range of essential services, including social, vocational, educational, residential, spiritual, financial, and healthcare support.

We achieve this by:

Offering therapeutic programs that promote overall well-being and a culture of wellness.

Fostering a warm and inclusive environment rooted in Yiddishkeit, loving-kindness, and community spirit.

Building strong partnerships with local and global networks to enhance our services and ensure long-term sustainability.

At Glendale, it’s the people who make it truly special—our residents, who proudly call it home in every sense of the word.

Our History

Glendale’s journey began in November 1966 with a heartfelt vision: to provide a supportive home for Jewish individuals with intellectual disabilities. Recognizing this vital need, a group of dedicated individuals came together to establish a safe and nurturing environment.

With the generous support of the Montague, Rose, and Stanley Freeman Trust, the first residence—now known as The Homestead—was renovated and adapted to offer independent living with minimal supervision. As awareness grew, so did the understanding that more space was needed. In 1971, a major expansion project laid the foundation for the Glendale home as it exists today.

By 1986, increasing demand led to the construction of an additional wing, further enhancing the facility’s capacity.

Today, Glendale has grown into a thriving community, featuring five residential wings along with dedicated spaces for social engagement, therapy, and activity workshops. Our legacy of care and commitment continues to shape a brighter future for all who call Glendale home.

This is what Glendale stands for, and this is what giving dignity and hope to neurodivergent adults looks like #healthyactivemeaningfullives
