Program of Services
Glendale home provides personal care, social, vocational, educational, residential, spiritual, financial, and healthcare services for Jewish adults and aged persons with profound intellectual disabilities. We achieve this by:
• Providing therapeutic programs that fosters a culture of wellness.
• Nurturing a spirit of Yiddishkeit, loving kindness and inclusivity.
• Growing symbiotic partnerships with local communities and global networks to advance our service delivery and long-term sustainability.
These faces are what makes Glendale so special, for these residents who are proud to call it their home in every sense of the word.
Our History
Glendale began from humble beginnings in November 1966. A group of concerned people recognized the need for a home for the Jewish intellectually handicapped. The original house, now known as the Homestead, was renovated and adapted through the generous sponsorship of the Montague, Rose and Stanley Freeman Trust.
This original building is where the residents are encouraged to take care of their own daily needs under minimal supervision. As Community awareness grew, it became clear that the homestead residential facilities were far too limited and in 1971 a major building project was embarked upon. This formed the foundation of the existing home as it is known today. In 1986 owing to increasing demand, an additional wing was built.
